I created this 12" x 16" wooden panel artwork with careful attention to light and atmosphere. It invites viewers into a moment of natural Australian serenity.

When I first visited the Murray River in 2015, I spent a wonderful afternoon painting en plein air with a friend. That experience stayed with me for years, the way those ancient gum trees reached out over the water, the quality of light, and the profound sense of peace that permeated the place.

A decade later, I returned to those memories in my studio to create this piece. The gnarled, character-filled gum trees still spoke to me of resilience and time. I mixed my oils carefully to capture their twisted forms and the way the warm Australian light filtered through their leaves. I chose this 12" x 16" wooden panel because it allowed me to bring an organic quality to the work that complemented the natural setting.
